The cup that opens the room

In the Gulf, gahwa is not a beverage choice. It is what happens the moment you walk through the door. The pot comes out, the cup is filled barely a third of the way — deliberately, so the host has a reason to return — and the room settles.

At a wedding, a nikkah or a cultural event in Southern California, that ritual does something no drinks table can replicate. Guests who grew up with it recognise it instantly. Guests who did not get to watch it happen.

How we serve it

Lightly roasted coffee, ground and simmered with green cardamom, poured from a brass dallah into handleless finjan cups, and served alongside dates. We pour continuously through the arrival window rather than setting out an urn, because the pouring is the point.

Saudi coffee — paler still, and more aromatic — runs from the same counter for guests who prefer it.

How it works

A booth, a counter, and a queue that keeps forming

The Dubai Karak team standing inside their branded canopy booth at an outdoor event

We bring a branded canopy, a served counter, and pots of tea and coffee brewed the way they are brewed in the Gulf. Because everything is brewed in volume before the doors open, we hand out a hot cup every few seconds rather than every few minutes.

That matters most at the moments events actually get busy: the end of a ceremony, a conference break, the hour after sunset at a Ramadan bazaar. The booth is designed to absorb a crowd, and the setup is designed to be photographed while it does.

  • Branded canopy, calligraphy panels and feather flags included
  • Served counter — guests are handed a cup, not left to self-serve
  • Hot and cold menu so the booth works in July as well as December
  • Indoor or outdoor, with our own setup and breakdown

★★★★★
Honestly one of the best Karak experiences in California. Mohammad really knows what he's doing. Every cup hits different, rich, smooth, and full of authentic Eastern flavor. You can literally taste the spices, the warmth, the culture in every sip. It's not just tea, it feels like a small trip to the Middle East right here in Cali. If you're into real Karak, this place is a must.

I had the pleasure of having The Dubai Karak at my birthday celebration, and they truly exceeded every expectation. They were so kind, generous, and welcoming, creating such a beautiful atmosphere from the moment they arrived. The karak was absolutely amazing, rich and authentic, and they offered so much more than just drinks. Every detail, from their presentation to their outfits, was executed perfectly from A to Z. They brought such a luxurious, elevated vibe that made everyone fall in love with the experience and truly made my party unforgettable!

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What is gahwa?

Gahwa is the Arabic word for coffee, and in the Gulf it refers specifically to lightly roasted coffee spiced with cardamom and poured from a dallah into small cups. It is the traditional gesture of welcome and hospitality.

Why is the cup only filled part way?

It is intentional hospitality. A small pour means the host returns to refill it, so the gesture repeats. Filling the cup to the brim would signal that you are expected to leave.

Do you serve dates with it?

Yes. Dates are the traditional accompaniment and we serve them alongside the pour.

Is Arabic coffee caffeinated?

Yes, though the light roast and small serving size make it gentler than a cup of drip coffee. For guests avoiding caffeine entirely we pour ginger lemon tea or build a caffeine-free dirty soda.

Is this suitable for a nikkah or cultural event?

It is exactly what those events are usually missing. Arabic coffee and dates during the arrival window sets the tone before anything else happens.
